Sustainable swimwear & bikini sets

At Isla In Bloom, eco-conscious design and production is at the core of what we do. We’ve passionately worked to create swimwear that’s ethically made in Australia from sustainable materials. It’s now time to come full circle, ensuring at every stage of life an Isla In Bloom bikini won’t end up in landfill.

Over the past year since we’ve launched, we’ve been educating ourselves to be able to move forward in our sustainability processes, researching options to close the loop. We had a goal to have an initiative in place for summer 2020/21 and we're so happy to finally announce the launch of our ‘Repurpose & Recycle’ program.

For excess stock

We're starting off this exciting initiative with all excess stock being donated to Thread Together. Thread Together manage excess fashion items by helping Australian’s in need. Their purpose is to deliver new, good quality clothing to people who are doing it tough, while restoring dignity and hope to those individuals. Men, women and children are given the opportunity to choose an entire wardrobe of clothing.

Donating excess stock to Thread Together helps the organisation achieve their mission of fighting textile waste in Australia. By rescuing items from landfill, they support the homeless, youth at risk, Indigenous communities, survivors of domestic violence, refugees or those who have been unemployed long term.

It means so much to us to be able to donate our end of line pieces to those less able to buy new swimwear for themselves. Thread Together are doing an amazing job and we're so thrilled to have partnered with them.

For pre-loved bikinis

If you wish to part way with your Isla In Bloom bikini, reach out to us so we can recycle it on your behalf. We will send you a shipping label so you can send the bikini back to us at no cost. All pre-loved bikinis will be taken to Australia’s only circular textile waste service, Circular Centre.

The goal of Circular Centre is to divert textile waste, mitigate carbon emissions and reduce pollution in landfill. Particularly plastic microfibres. These textiles are safely repurposed into high quality products. The resources are kept on-shore fostering a circular economy in Australia, manufacturing and employment opportunities for disability enterprises in the community.

Our eco-conscious journey

We are so proud to be taking our ethical and sustainable swimwear label one step by further by launching this initiative for our customers. Our commitment to these values see us continuously learning and adapting our processes, ensuring our brand leaves minimal impact on the environment. We’re giving potential waste a new purpose, coming full circle in our efforts to do better as a brand.
